HomeShield Warranty (“HomeShield,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit rarebeercans.com (the “Site”), subscribe to emails, request quotes, enroll in a home warranty plan, or file a claim. This Policy applies to information collected through the Site and related client-side forms. It does not describe practices of third-party websites you may reach through links on our pages.
We collect information you voluntarily submit through forms, including contact requests, newsletter subscriptions, unsubscribe requests, and quote inquiries. This may include your name, email address, home type, plan preferences, ZIP or postal code, messages you write to us, and any plan or member identifiers you choose to include. If you enroll in a warranty plan through a partner or future checkout flow, we may also collect billing-related information necessary to process payment; on this static Site, payment data is not collected.
When you browse the Site, standard web server logs and browser technologies may record your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and approximate timestamps. We use this data in aggregate to maintain security, diagnose technical issues, and understand how visitors use our content. This static deployment may not include analytics cookies; if we add analytics later, we will update this Policy and, where required, request consent.
If you become a Member, we receive information from service contractors about diagnosis results, repair status, and equipment details needed to fulfill Claims. Real estate partners may provide contact information when you request coverage at closing, consistent with their privacy notices and your relationship with them.
We use personal information for purposes including:
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share limited data with service providers who assist with hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and IT security, bound by contractual confidentiality and use restrictions.
Where privacy laws require a legal basis, we rely on: (a) performance of a contract when administering your Plan; (b) legitimate interests in operating and improving our business, securing the Site, and marketing to interested homeowners, balanced against your rights; (c) consent for optional marketing communications; and (d) compliance with legal obligations such as tax, audit, and regulatory requests.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We may use essential cookies to remember preferences or maintain session security if interactive features are added. Non-essential cookies, such as those used for advertising or detailed analytics, will be disclosed in a cookie notice and, where required, enabled only with your consent. You can control cookies through browser settings; disabling cookies may affect Site functionality.
When you subscribe via the footer newsletter, subscribe page, or similar forms on this Site, we store your email and related preferences to send maintenance tips, product updates, and promotional offers. Each marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You may also use our Unsubscribe Email page. Unsubscribing from marketing does not opt you out of transactional messages necessary to service an active Plan.
Form submissions on this static Site are validated in your browser only; data is not transmitted to a server unless you later connect backend processing. When a backend is enabled, submissions will be handled according to this Policy.
We may disclose personal information to:
We do not share your information with unrelated third parties for their own marketing without your consent.
We retain personal information as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including servicing your Plan, resolving disputes, and meeting legal retention requirements. Marketing contact data is retained until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, subject to suppression lists we maintain to honor opt-out requests. Claim records may be kept for several years to support warranty history and regulatory compliance.
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Measures may include encryption in transit for live systems, access controls, and vendor security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you provide information at your own risk when using the internet.
The Site and our services are directed to adults purchasing home warranty coverage. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact hello@rarebeercans.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. You may also have the right to appeal our response to a privacy request.
To exercise rights, email privacy@rarebeercans.com with sufficient detail to verify your identity. We will respond within timeframes required by applicable law. Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, including the right to know categories of personal information collected, sources, business purposes, and categories of third parties with whom information is shared; the right to delete personal information subject to exceptions; and the right to opt out of “sales” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. As stated, we do not sell personal information for money. If we engage in activities considered “sharing” for advertising, we will provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” mechanism.
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights regarding access, correction, deletion, and opt-outs. Contact us to exercise applicable rights.
If you access the Site from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers where required.
Our Site may link to social networks or external resources. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Social sharing buttons on our footer are placeholders in this static build; when activated, those platforms may collect data about your visit under their terms.
